Gee Thanks

Hello stampers,

Today my children come home from Israel.  I have felt unsettled the last few days with all that is going on there.  We did hear from Jake on Thursday that they were safe and having an amazing time.  I can’t wait to see them late tonight when we pick them up at the airport.

I got the inspiration for today’s card from France Martin.  I inked up the splats from the Gorgeous Grunge set in Crushed Curry and stamped on a 4″ X 5-1/4″ piece of Whisper White. I rounded the corners with a corner rounder punch.   I inked up the swirl from the Everything Eleanor set in Island Indigo.  I inked up the greeting from the Really Good Greetings set in Perfect Plum.  Adhered the layer to the card front with stampin’ dimensionals.  Punched out the stars with a retired star punch and added subtle candy dots to the centers and adhered with glue dots.

Square Awesome Thanks Hello stampers, It’s been awhile since I last did a sketch challenge and was inspired by the Clean & Simple Sketch 298.  I made this for Stu to send to my parents as a thank you card for the birthday gift they sent to him for this birthday.  I’ll share the card I made for him later this coming week. Today’s card is square measuring 4-1/2″ X 4-1/2″.  I started with a Crisp Cantaloupe card base.  Cut a piece of Gold Soiree Specialty Designer Series Paper to adhere to a 4-1/4″ X 4-1/4″ layer of Pistachio Pudding.  Added a strip of Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape.  Stamped the greeting from the Yippee-Skippee stamp set in Crisp Cantaloupe.  Added some bling from the 2013-2014 In-Color Sequin Assortment. Here is the sketch that was the inspiration. sketch Be creative and get inky today! Inky hugs, Jan

Make a Wish

Make a Wish

Make a Wish

Hello stampers,

Make a Wish is to true for me today and over the next 10 days as I wish Alexis and Jake a wonderful and safe trip to Israel and a safe trip back home on July 13.

I had seen a card recently with a similar layout.  I started with a Bermuda Bay card base.  Added a layer of the new Celebration Designer Paper leaving approximately an 1″ at the top.  Unfortunately, it is really hard to see the different flecks of Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding, Bermuda Bay among the Smoky Slate background.  Using the corner rounder punch, I punched two corners after I adhered the Celebration DSP.  Using the Big Shot and Banner Framelits, I cut out a banner with the same DSP.  I inked up ‘make a wish’ in Strawberry Slush from the Perfect Pennants stamp set and stamped it on a scrap piece of Whisper White and cut out and used a 1/2 Circle Punch to punch out the letter ‘a’.  I inked up the ‘star’ from the same stamp set in Smoky Slate and punched it out with a retired star punch.  Adhered the banner along the top of the DSP.  Added the star.  Put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the backs of the cut pieces and adhered them.  Using a hand held punch, I punched a hole on the fold so that I could wrap the Strawberry Slush Baker’s Twine around the card and tie a bow.

Thanks Much

Hello stampers,

Tomorrow my children leave for New York City and Israel.  I am so excited for them and yet scared as they will be half way around the world for 10 days with no communication.  I know they will look out for each other and keep safe.  My niece is there right now and having a wonderful time.  I know Jake and Alexis will too.

I cased today’s card from the new catalog on page 146.  I started with a Shimmery White card base.  With the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set, inked up three of the images in Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay and the new Mossy Meadow in-color.  Stamped the image on the matching cardstock.  I didn’t have any gold glimmer paper so I used the champagne glimmer paper.  Punched out the images with the Hexagon punch and cut them down to size.  Tip:  To get the layers how I wanted them with the Calypso Coral at the top of the card base, I put a little bit of repositionable adhesive on the back to line them up, and then put permanent adhesive on the back to adhere them into place. Starting with the bottom layer of Mossy Meadow, then added the champagne glimmer paper, Bermuda Bay and finally the Calypso Coral. Inked up the ‘thanks much’ in Mossy Meadow from the same stamp set and stamped after I had adhered the partial hexagons.

3 Butterflies

Hello stampers,

The inspiration for this card comes from the new cartalog on page 130.  Not having the same stamp set, I improvised using the retired Just Believe stamp set.  The card in the catalog had also inspired me to break down and purchase the Elegant Butterfly punch.

I started with a Baked Brown Sugar card base and punched out the notches using the Envelope Punch Board.  On scrap pieces of Pear Pizzazz, Island Indigo and Very Vanilla, I stamped the large image in VersaMark and embossed the Pear Pizzazz in Wild Wasabi, the Island Indigo with Black and the Very Vanilla with Early Espresso.  Punched them out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch.  I inked up the large stamp in Baked Brown Sugar and stamped in the lower left corner.  Adhered the butterflies with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Doubled up the linen thread and wrapped it around the top of the card and tied a bow.

You Make Me Smile

Hello stampers,

What a crazy week this has been.  Between Stu and Jake working, I have been the driver to take them both to and from work.  On top of that, there was an issue with Jake’s scholarship at ASU and the mistake was on their end.  It was a huge mixup and finally got straightened out.

Between yesterday and today, I stamped seven new cards to share with you over the next week or so.  I got a lot of my inspiration from the new catalog.  If you don’t have one and would like one, please let me know.  I got the idea for today’s card from page 147 using the stamp set A Round Array.   ‘ You make me smile’ was stamped in Pool Party and punched out with the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch.  Some Washi Tape and one of the elements from the Essentials Wood Elements round out the card.

three flowers

Hello stampers,

What a day I have had so far.  It started at 6:00 AM when I had to drive Stu to work and then come home and drive Jake to work.  Four different grocery stores and four loads of laundry later, I am worn out.  There is still a dinner to cook for Stu and he actually said he would go to the movies tonight with all of us.

Jake and Aelxis are busy putting the final touches on their NY/Isreal trip coming up in two weeks.  I am more nervous about the two of them spending two days in NYC then I am about them travelling half way around the world to Israel.   I am so excited that Stu and I were able to treat them to theatre tickets on Broadway while they are there.  We have also treated them to a limo from the airport into the city when they arrive.  I have told them both to take loads of pictures as I can’t wait to use the new Project Life to make albums for them of this once in a lifetime trip.

Today’s card was CASEd from Nadine Sookdeo.  It made my day when I first say it.  I just loved the birght colors she used and switched out the colors to some of my favorites.  The Flower Shop flowers are stamped in Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry and Bermude Bay with buttons in the middles and punched out with the matching punch.  The spotted background from the Gorgeous Grunge set is stamped in Crushed Curry as are the lines stamped in Bermuda Bay.

Hello stampers,

I saw this color combination on Pinterest today and thought I would give it a shot.  Colors used are Coastal Cabana, Perfect Plum and WIld Wasabi.

I’ll be honest.  I’m not in love with this card.  It certainly isn’t the worst card I have ever made nor is it the best.  I was tryng to play with different textures by using the Honeycomb and Decorative Dots embossing folders.  I just feel like the card is missing something and I can’t put my finger on it.  So, I am going to blame the weather here today for taking away my stamping mojo as it was rainy and gloomy all day.  I had to turn some lights on in the middle of the afternoon as the house was dark and I was here by myself.  Not really by myself as Wylie (our dog) was here too.  Hopefully, where ever you are, you will have some stamping mojo.

Bridal Shower Exploding Box

Bridal Shower Exploding Box

Hello stampers,

One of my best friends son is getting married and today I went to a Bridal Shower for the bride to be.  As the bride to be recently graduated from college and has not had a lot of time for registeries, she requested gift cards.  I was fine with that.  However, I wanted to come up with a different way of presenting the gift card instead of putting it in an envelope with the greeting card.  I decided to do an ‘exploding box’ that I learned to make a couple of years agao at a card class from Judy DiScipio.  I also wanted to personalize the box for them and not make it generic.  I used My Digital Studio to design the various sayings and images.

Having not been to a Bridal Shower for a couple of years, I wasn’t sure what sort of games we would be playing.  I decided before I went that I would go with the flow and have fun.  Loved the games we played.  One was matching up song titles/movie titles to various lyrics/famous lines.  The other was a mad lib game telling the story of the bride and groom in our own words.  We all got to share our stories and had a lot of laughs.  Truly an enjoyable afternoon.
